China expects to strengthen military cooperation with Belarus in different areas so as to make contributions to the development of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, Admiral Sun Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) said in Minsk, capital of Belarus on Oct. 12.
Sun Jianguo started his visit to Belarus on Oct. 12 after attending an international conference on security in Afghanistan in Moscow.
Defense Minister of Belarus Lt. Gen. Andrei Ravkov met with Sun Jianguo on Monday. Ravkov told his Chinese guest that Belarus regards China as its strategic partner and takes Belarus-China relations as the most important and priority in its foreign policy, and firmly supports China's stance in Taiwan, Xinjiang and Tibet, etc.
Belarus highly appreciates the achievements made in the military-to-military cooperation with China and is willing to deepen the pragmatic cooperation in fields of personnel training and joint drills, Ravkov said.
With the promotion of leaders of the two countries, China and Belarus have reached a series of consensuses concerning the China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership development, Sun Jianguo said, adding that China is willing to work with Belarus to deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields and push forward the military-to-military relations between the two countries to a new high.
Major Gen. Oleg Belokonev, first deputy defense minister of Belarus and chief of general staff of Belarusian Armed Forces, and Cui Qiming, Chinese Ambassador to Belarus, were present at the meeting.
