Latvia deepens cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries


010101The European Union (EU) and member state flags have been ceremoniously hoisted at the Latvian National Library in Riga yesterday.

On January 1, Latvia assumed the rotating EU Presidency for a period of six months. Latvia has set out as its presidency priorities returning the EU back on a path towards growth, as well as the strengthening the bloc’s competitiveness and influence around the world.

Among other priorities is cooperation with the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). Overall, around 200 events connected to Latvia’s EU presidency are expected to be held in Latvia.
