The military and political situation in the responsibility area of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was discussed in the CSTO Secretariat behind closed doors, CSTO Press Secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA.
Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha took part in the event arranged by the CSTO Analytical Association.
The situation analysis focused on the drastic aggravation of the geopolitical situation, including in the immediate vicinity of the CSTO responsibility area, the growing danger of instability spreading into the CSTO member states, the presence of acute problems near the CSTO borders such as Afghanistan, Ukraine, and the unstable situation in Caucasia. The USA’s and NATO’s actions designed to engage Russia in a military confrontation were discussed as well as possible response measures of Russia and the CSTO as a whole.
Participants of the situation analysis session discussed peculiarities of the current military and political situation in the CSTO responsibility area and made forecasts regarding future developments. Experts believe that there are objective and subjective reasons that may further aggravate the geopolitical situation, including in the immediate vicinity of the CSTO responsibility area.
Heads of the charter bodies of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will be informed about results of the private situation analysis session and proposals of experts meant to forestall the negative development of the situation.
There are plans to discuss the waging of hybrid wars in modern conditions within the framework of the CSTO Analytical Association in June 2015.
