The constructive position of Belarus and Turkmenistan is particularly important given the difficult international context, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said during the talks with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
“Constructive responsible position of our countries is particularly important today given the difficult and painful processes taking place in various regions of the globe,” the Turkmenistan President said. Belarus and Turkmenistan reaffirm the fundamental position that all conflicts and contradictions should be resolved only through peaceful means.
Relations between Belarus and Turkmenistan are a long-term and strategic partnership. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that they are not influenced by external trends and are aimed at consistent creative development for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries. According to the President of Turkmenistan, both countries are in favor of the development of cooperation based on the principles of equality and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. “Following them, Turkmenistan and Belarus will continue to strengthen their interaction with international organizations: the UN, the OSCE, the CIS and others,” he noted.
The President drew attention to the fact that on the international arena Belarus continues to support the initiatives of Turkmenistan in such key areas as global energy security, international transport cooperation. The Belarusian party co-sponsored the relevant resolutions of the UN General Assembly.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also noted the effective international partnership of Belarus and Turkmenistan. The countries supported each other, for example, in the UN Economic and Social Council and a number of specialized commissions and committees.
