According to the Belarus Ministry of Defence, joint staff training of the joint command of the Regional Group of Troops (Forces) of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation is taking place between 23 and 26, March 2015 in Minsk.
The training is conducted under the supervision of Major-General Oleg Belokonev, Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus.
The participants drill the use of the Regional Group of Troops (Forces) for “ensuring military security of the Union State,” the Defenсe Ministry said.
Representatives of the Belarus military command at all levels, as well as national government bodies of the Republic of Belarus and officers of the Western Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation participate in the event.
During the training the sides will pay attention to the joint planning of the employment of the Regional Group of Troops (Forces) based on the experience of military conflicts of the past years in order to ensure military security of the Union State.
According to the Belarus Ministry of Defence, the training is a logical continuation of the series of events to improve interoperability of the staffs at various command levels of the two countries that will take part in the Belarusian-Russian joint operational exercise Union Shield 2015.
