23About 30 foreign military attaches accredited in Belarus took part in the briefing by state secretary, assistant of Belarus’ defence minister on military policy Col. Oleg Voinov.

Military attaches were acquainted with the main results of the development of the Armed Forces, including combat training, Belarus’ participation in peacekeeping operations and accomplishment of country’s international obligations under the treaties in the field of arms control, as well as with the main indicators of the defense budget.

«The results of the development of the Armed Forces in recent years have provided the correspondence of their composition, structure and size to the level of military threats and economic capabilities of the state – said Oleg Voinov. – Created legal framework and functional systems allow the Armed Forces to perform all tasks –in peacetime and in wartime. «

Military diplomats were informed about the priority projects of the Belarusian army. The creation of a multi-level automated control system, unmanned aircraft systems and the development of the national unified communications, navigation and identification system, transferring advanced weapons and technology on a wheelbase of domestic production are among them.

Representatives of the military diplomatic corps were informed about the most important combat training events of the current year. Above all, these are the actions of forces in joint exercises of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia «Union Shield — 2015. » It was said that the bilateral command and post exercises with mechanized brigades, tactical live fire exercises with the units of antiaircraft missile troops during participation in coalition exercises «Combat Commonwealth — 2015» at the sites of the Russian Federation (Ashuluk and Telemba), and a number of tactical (special tactical) exercises with military units have also been planned.

In his summing up, Oleg Voinov stressed that the Armed Forces of Belarus will ensure the military security of the state in accordance with the principles of defense sufficiency and strategic deterrence of potential aggression giving priority to non-military means.
