Riga summit to highlight EaP development prospects

1At the forthcoming summit in Riga the EU wants to give a clear signal that it has a coherent strategy and instruments for the development of the Eastern Partnership, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Latvia Andrejs Pildegovics told media in Riga on 19 May, BelTA has learned.

According to Andrejs Pildegovics, the EU welcomes the intention of other states to conduct a dialogue and strengthen relations with the union. “We would like to keep this platform of six EaP member states and do not want to dictate any terms,” the Latvian official said. “We offer mechanisms and instruments. Everything should be based on mutual benefits,” he added.

Andrejs Pildegovics also stressed the importance of the forthcoming Eastern Partnership summit and the agreements to be reached in Riga.
